Trip Cancellation - What Can I Do?
By Maria Caceres | 10.06.09 No Comments » News , How We Can Help YouOur Seven Corners' sales division is seeing the number of travelers purchasing travel cancellation products rise as people are airing on the side of caution in relation to H1N1 pandemic outbreaks, uncertainty of the economy and their job stability, and hurricane season. Because of this people are more proactively researching what type of trip cancellation policies are out there and what is covered if they have to cancel a flight.
One of our agents advised us that some companies are still requiring hard copy tickets and won’t accept e-tickets to process the trip cancellation claim. We’ve seen posts on the internet about this type of thing as well with people asking, “Are these companies familiar with modern technology?” - who gets hard copy tickets today? I thought it might be helpful to describe Seven Corners' procedures.
Our trip cancellation representative, Sureleen Stage, gave me the information below that might be helpful to everyone who is looking at securing trip cancellation coverage. “ We accept e-tickets. We will contact the airline to determine if the ticket still has value and if so we give our insured the option to use the credit and submit the change fee to us for processing or sign a ticket agreement (this form states they will basically forfeit their ticket). We understand that most airlines do not even issue paper tickets anymore and if they do there is a fee to issue. We do advise the insured when we discuss the claim form that we do not need paper tickets. We also issue what is called an items needed letter. This letter advises our insureds what additional information is needed to finalize the claim.” Hope this helps, and we hope you don’t have a need to cancel your trip, but if you do, our customer service staff will take care of you.
